The Student Union

Hull University Students' Union (HUSU)

Welcome to Hull! As a new student, you're automatically a member of the Hull University Students' Union. We’re here to represent your voice, provide independent advice, support your academic interests, and ensure you feel part of the student community. The Students’ Union is independent from the University and is led by a team of Presidents who are full-time, paid representatives. Being a part of the Students’ Union gives you access to our services and benefits to ensure you have all you need during your time at university, providing everything from social spaces and communities to advice and representation.

Your Voice

We’re here to empower you, helping to make your time at university count and supporting you to stand up for what you believe in and speak out about the issues that matter to you most. Whether you want to represent other students, influence university policy, or suggest a campaign, we are here to help you make a difference. We achieve this through a network of volunteer student and course representatives, four Faculty Representatives and two Part-Time Officers, all led by our team of four Presidents. Together they work to amplify the student voice. Each spring, Presidents and reps are elected through democratic elections by their peers. Could you be in one of our elected or volunteer positions next year?

Student Communities

There are plenty of ways to get involved in our community activities – we have something for everyone! You can get involved in hundreds of societies and sports clubs, Support Networks, and volunteering and fundraising opportunities. Taking part is a fantastic way to make new friends, gain experience, build your CV, and support your mental wellbeing.

Advice Centre

Our Advice Centre is a free, independent, and impartial service that offers support and representation on issues that affect you as a student. You can talk to the team about any issues relating to academic interests, money, housing, funding, or student finance and grant applications. The Advice Centre is also a Hate Crime Reporting Centre and can advise and assist with the process of reporting a hate crime to the relevant authorities. We hope you’ll never need our advice as a student, but know we are here if you need it.

Events and More

Looking for something fun? In Student Central, you’ll find a wide range of social events, gig nights, HUSU activities, opportunities and more happening. You can find out what’s on and book tickets on our events page.
